Jenkintown, PA (March 30, 2006) — Managing Editor Inc. announces the release of Page Director® Classified Layout System (CLS) 3.6. The latest version of one of MEI’s most well-known products features an efficient new page composite feature that conveniently compiles PDFs into a single file, as well as other compatibility and support upgrades designed to further streamline the production of classified pages.
Streamlined PDF page composites. The latest version of CLS offers improved PDF workflow. Designed to help publications on deadline cut the time-consuming process of creating a large amount of small, individual boxes on the QuarkXPress or InDesign page, CLS now combines those objects into one PDF file. Version 3.6 also supports PDF files in ImageView, allowing sites that use PDF ads to preview those items right on the classified page.
Tighter IPS integration. CLS 3.6 offers enhanced compatibility with MEI’s Integrated Production Suite (IPS), the company’s powerful suite of integrated publishing software. Using CLS as a part of the IPS system eliminates the task of creating separate issues in separate programs for each component of a page and then importing them together. IPS support allows multiple users to collaborate on a single issue throughout the workflow process in real time, even across different offices or geographic locations. Any changes to a page’s layout are dynamically updated throughout the entire system, all the way through the final QuarkXPress® or Adobe® InDesign® page. The system’s feedback mechanism even loops changes back to the order-entry system so that financial reporting is accurate, enabling publishers to generate reports to advertisers ensuring the specific placement of their ads. When used with IPS, CLS 3.6 dynamically updates changes to ads on classified pages, cutting the need to manually import or reflow modified items — or the possibility of forgetting to do so — out of the production process.
Mac OS X Tiger support. CLS 3.6 is compatible with Tiger, Macintosh’s latest and most advanced operating system. The CLS 3.6 upgrade also features compatibility with QuarkXPress 6.5 and Adobe InDesign Creative Suite 2.
