Managing Editor Inc. to showcase Integrated Production Suite 4 at NEXPO 2006

Powerful, all-star software package transforms traditional linear workflow into productive, parallel process

Jenkintown, PA (March 30, 2006) — Managing Editor Inc., a leading provider of software and services to the publishing industry, announces that NEXPO 2006 will showcase the company’s Integrated Production Suite (IPS) Version 4, a powerful, sophisticated software package of MEI’s top products. The myriad enhancements to the system include new, advanced business reporting, which can revolutionize the way publishers track and analyze cost and production data.

Built on top of the expanded Business Intelligence engine packaged with SQL Server 2005, the new IPS Reporting System gives IT, production management and the front office flexible, scalable and dead-simple views into the metrics of ad and issue production. Users can view built-in reports to break ad linage down by section, category, or salesperson; easily reconcile what was booked and what actually made it to print; and compare issue costs with revenue over an arbitrary time span. Daily, weekly and monthly reports can be scheduled and downloaded to a secure location as PDFs, Excel documents, or Web pages, or they can be e-mailed to stakeholders at regular intervals, giving all users exactly the production information they need, when and how they need it.

MEI representatives will be available at NEXPO to discuss recent IPS installations at Transcontinental, The Journal News (White Plains, New York), and the San Francisco Chronicle. Dan Schaible, advertising systems manager for the Chronicle, will be on hand at MEI’s booth to discuss IPS and weigh in on questions about the system, Sunday at 3:30 p.m. and Monday at 10:30 a.m.

IPS also includes:

The IPS Engine. The high-powered database hub through which the other MEI tools connect and share data. Ad order-entry systems feed ad and job data into the database, where it is aggregated and distributed to the other MEI tools. All tools become collaborative and dynamic when connected to IPS.

Page Director® Ad Layout System (ALS). ALS is the complete, industry-standard issue planning and ad layout system that provides powerful issue management tools, flexible integration with ad booking, built-in dynamic conflict management, complete integration with digital ads, and numerous other functional features.

Page Director Classified Layout System (CLS). CLS is a smart system for classified pagination, featuring smooth, front-end system integration, an Action palette for automated workflows, one-step layout of displays and liners, automatic placement of headers and fillers, automatic justification, squaring, and line rules.

IPS AdTrac. AdTrac offers powerful ad workflow management with complete tracking of the ad production process, including advanced deadline controls, collaborative workflow management, a standard architecture, flexible integration, powerful automation tools and quick return on investment.

QuickLink. This tool provides editorial user integration with an IPS workflow, allowing users to associate editorial pages with issues and ads from the database and dynamically update page content to reflect ad changes in the database.
