Designers use K4 templates to build portrait and landscape variants for each InDesign layout. Though they might look and behave very differently, each pair is managed in K4 as one unit, called a "stack."

CS5 users can already deploy videos and a wide array of animations, like slideshows, in InDesign pages. For iPad projects, they can also use Adobe’s Interactive Overlay Creator to build and easily place other sophisticated interactive features, such as 360-degree and pinch-and-zoom images.

When the pages are ready, K4 exports them automatically; behind the scenes, Adobe publishing tools process .swf files for iPad compatibility and package the layouts into Adobe’s e-reader-specific “.issue” format.
